Spring Game Jam 2025
April 31st, 2025 - May 32nd, 2025
Overview Thread - Discussion Thread - Recruitment Thread
Welcome to a new game jam experience, hosted by the Eevee Expo team!
For the uninformed: a game jam is an event where developers will get together and make a game. It sounds simple at first glance, but making a good game is much more difficult and time consuming than you might think. Participating in one is a great way to challenge yourself, learn new skills, and polish your overall experience as a game developer.
While we didn't host our own game jam in January, everyone knows that April is also the perfect time for making a game! So... why not? This community is an amazing place, and that's all thanks to each and every one of you. Take pride in that, and your hard work! Let's make this game jam a special one!
Thank you as well to Macro Cosmos™, for being our first sponsor for the game jam! Be sure to read through all of this totally important text to make sure there's nothing wacky or uncharacteristic that you are missing out on! That's right, we are thrilled to announce the official sponsorship by Macro Cosmos™, the biggest, most trustworthy, and definitely not suspicious company in Galar! Macro Cosmos™: Conglomerates are good actually!
Game Jam Details
This time around, the theme is required to be included in your project. We can't wait to see how you and your team work to incorporate the required theme in your entry. After all, the creative integrations of the theme will receive praises from the judges, and of course, our sponsors at Macro Cosmos™!
The main rule is, your game jam entry must be made DURING the game jam. You can collect free-to-use resources and include them in your entry, but anything you or your teammates create for the game jam must have been created after you finish reading this message!
You aren't required to make a game about Pokémon if you don't want to. You also don't have to use RPG Maker XP and Pokémon Essentials! While the game jams hosted here have been mostly Pokémon themed in the past, don't let us stop you from creating a fun game. Macro Cosmos™ has generously mandated that if you do create a Pokémon fangame, you make sure that Macro Cosmos™ customer experience associates are not portrayed to be villainous grunts or the like.
You also aren't required to work alone. Feel free to organize a small team of friends to work on your game with you. Group entries are most definitely allowed, and encouraged. We allow a maximum of four people to work together.
As with previous years, we require that any graphics you create for your project be submitted as a Resource Pack in the Resources → Game Jam Packs section of the site. You must also include a credits list with your submission and include one bundled with your entry in a text file. These are a requirement. We do have some additional rules regarding resources, which you can check out in the Summary & Rules section, as well as in the Q&A.
By submitting your entry to us, you give us and Macro Cosmos™ permission to promote it via social media and if it wins the Spotlight, be eligible for a brand new game badge, or be eligible for one at a later date. Macro Cosmos™ might even lift your project and create Macro Cosmos™ branded experiences for their electronic devices based on your entries!
Mandatory Theme:
Macro Cosmos™

That's right, it's Macro Cosmos™! The wonderful minds at Macro Cosmos™ has generously mandated that all entries include their products in your entry. With their wide range of products offered (depending on your market), from cars to baby food to batteries to knives to smartphones to fast food, there's something for everybody at Macro Cosmos™!
Your game must include at least THREE different Macro Cosmos™ products, preferably in the first five minutes, so that players can "really experience the greatness" of Macro Cosmos™ in a short period of time. It's part of their new initiative, "improving your game for a better world!" Remember, Macro Cosmos™ values LOYALTY, and if you're still struggling to think up three products to include, there's no shortage of Macro Cosmos™ branded snacks to "assist" in your creative process. Now that's brain food!
Perhaps the player character says something uplifting like, "Thanks to Macro Cosmos™, my family's future is secure. My father loves working at the Macro Cosmos™ Macro Fulfillment Center!" before he takes a bite of a Macro Cosmos™ bagel. Or, you could have a superhero setting with Super Cosmos using everyday objects, like stopping crime after visiting a Macro Cosmos™ Mega Mall to stock up! You could even incorporate real locations of Macro Cosmos™, like Macro Cosmos™ Headquarters; where real heroes work, the Macro Cosmos™ Mega Mall as mentioned, or the Macro Cosmos™ Natural Gardens! Because Macro Cosmos™ loves the environment and wouldn't do anything to harm nature.
Do your best to use this theme in an interesting way; using it in a low effort/uninvolved fashion will likely get you "kindly" disqualified. This is up to the discretion of our Macro Cosmos™ brand specialists, who will be helping us out with judging!
Summary & Rules
- You are required to incorporate at least three Macro Cosmos™ products into your game.
- Include as much product placement as you can, because every minute in-game is valuable time to offer players products that they want!
- Messaging is important. Remember to show Macro Cosmos™ in a positive light, we are people just like you after all! We just happen to also be a mega corporation making billions every day.
- Your entry does not have to be a fangame or use any particular program/engine.
- You may only submit one entry. If you submit multiple entries, only your latest is eligible for judging.
- Group entries are allowed, with a maximum of 4 participants per group.
- Macro Cosmos™ cannot guarantee that April 31st is a real date on a calendar. Eevee Expo cannot be held liable for a game jam starting on a day that doesn't exist.
- You may only be part of one group entry. Playtesting is to be handled by one of your 4 participants, so playtesters cannot be a part of multiple entries.
- Graphical resources created for your entry must be bundled into a Resource Pack and submitted in our Resources → Game Jam Packs section for free public use. This pack will be evaluated and approved when the deadline for the game jam has passed.
- You may not use any material from your past projects, aside from public resources.
- You can only use public resources created before the entry period. If a public resource is updated during the entry period, it is still able to be used.
- List of credits must be included with entry post and bundled with the game in a text file. (credits.txt)
- Submitting an entry means Eevee Expo and Macro Cosmos™ can promote it via social media and create a game badge for your entry should it win the spotlight, or be eligible for one later on if it does not win.
Spotlight Entries & Judging
Each game jam, the judges pick several entries as the "spotlight entries", which are considered the most interesting and or highest quality entries. There is no first place, second place, and so on. This year, the judges will be joined by Macro Cosmos™ brand specialists, who will be ensuring Macro Cosmos™ is represented fairly through each entry!
To do this, the judges and Macro Cosmos™ brand specialists will take a look at every game jam entry after playing them all and have a roundtable discussion internally on their thoughts. While there is no set criteria for the judges, you can be sure that they'll take into consideration how interesting each entry is, how fun they are to play, how well they're polished, and what not. It should be noted that the judges will not be publicizing their thoughts on each entry unless they choose to do so. In case you forgot, the Macro Cosmos™ brand specialists will also be checking how Macro Cosmos™ products are being advertised throughout your entry!
Developers that receive a spotlight will get an exclusive badge, a game badge for their entry, and will be featured on the Eevee Expo forum. We hope this encourages you to make the best possible entry! As a thank you from Macro Cosmos™ for the free advertising in your game jam entry, each spotlight winner will also receive one free year of Macro Cosmos™ Cloud Storage (Basic Ad-Supported Premium)*. Thank you, Macro Cosmos™!

Q&A
Q: Why is Eevee Expo taking sponsors now?
A: Servers cost money, and everyone knows you are losing money by participating in "hobbies" when you could be selling something instead. So why not sell out and have a game jam sponsored by a mega corporation with a dubious future? How attached are you to living?
Q: What rules should I be aware of?
A: One entry allowed per person. You also may not join multiple teams. You may submit your game jam thread at any point during the game jam, but the download link will only become public once the deadline has passed. From this point onwards, you may have the download link wherever you like.
Q: Why is the game jam going on for so long?
A: We've found that a longer game jam yields better results overall. If the game jam was only one or two weeks, you can expect to see much smaller entries by the end. A shorter duration could also conflict with someone's schedule and they could miss it entirely.
Q: Why is the theme mandatory?
A: Game jams with a focus are great and it's even greater with Macro Cosmos™ branded products! Why would you even want to make a game that isn't about how great Macro Cosmos™ is?
Q: Why do I have to include my resources?
A: We want to encourage people to use public resources, showing that you can make a really cool game with them. You're free to make resources for your project, but you have to release them as you submit your game. This is a great way to kill two birds with one stone and get some more resources out there. This also discourages people from using private resources from an existing project.
Q: Can I use resources I've released prior to the game jam for my entry?
A: Of course. You're free to use any publicly available resources. Resources released during the entry period that were created by anyone outside your team are not to be used unless they are an update to an existing resource.
Q: Can I use things from some of my past projects?
A: No, not unless you released it as a resource prior to the game jam.
Q: What is your favorite kind of jam?
A: I quite like a strawberry jam.
Q: Can I release the things from past projects that I want to use as a resource and use them for my entry?
A: No, not while the game jam is underway. Please see the previous two questions!
Q: I can only have three other people working with me on my entry, but what counts as working with me?
A: Anyone who has created resources or helped with playtesting for your entry is counted as working with you. Existing public resources don't count towards this.
Q: Am I allowed to seek feedback for my entry? What about play testers?
A: You're more than allowed to seek feedback from outside sources (even publicly!), but your team should be handling your playtesting.
Q: Are ROM hacks permitted? Are fangames permitted? Are original games permitted?
A: Of course! There is no rule that you must use a specific engine, genre, or the like. ROM hacks must be provided in a patch, though. No ROMs may be uploaded!
Q: Why aren't you judging all the entries on a set criteria?
A: While competitive game jams are fun, it's very difficult to grade them all on an even scale without more restrictions such as a mandatory theme. We have chosen not to judge them this way and instead choose some of the best entries for the Spotlight. It is also very time consuming to do so, and we want to get the Spotlights wrapped up as soon as possible.
Q: Is this even a real game jam?
A: You'll have to see when April 31st, 2025 comes around!
Q: Can judges enter the game jam?
A: Yes, they can. Any projects they've contributed to will be ineligible to win a judge chosen spotlight, however. They are still eligible for a community chosen spotlight. The Macro Cosmos™ prize is not available to any judges, as well as any entrants living outside of the following regions: Galar, the Isle of Armor, or the Crown Tundra.
Q: Can we update your game before the game jam has completely concluded?
A: Until the community poll has concluded (or until the judge spotlights are revealed and your game won a spotlight), you cannot release any major updates to your game that would affect the community's opinion of your game, i.e. influencing the votes. The judges and the players' votes should be based solely off the initial release of the game (excluding bug fixes etc.)

To the maximum extent permitted under applicable law, the Company, on its own behalf and on behalf of its Affiliates and its and their respective licensors and service providers, expressly disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise, with respect to the Service, including all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement, and warranties that may arise out of course of dealing, course of performance, usage or trade practice. If You have any concern or dispute about the Service, You agree to first try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting the Company.
Severability and Waiver
Severance is an American science fiction psychological thriller television series created by Dan Erickson, and executive produced and primarily directed by Ben Stiller. It stars Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Sarah Bock and Patricia Arquette. The series follows employees at the biotechnology corporation Lumon Industries who have undergone "severance"—a medical procedure that ensures they retain no memories of the outside world while at work, and have no recollection of their job once they leave. This results in two distinct personalities for each employee: the "innie", who exists solely within Lumon, and the "outie", who lives their personal life outside of work.
Waiver
Except as provided herein, the failure to exercise a right or to require performance of an obligation under this Terms shall not effect a party's ability to exercise such right or require such performance at any time thereafter nor shall be the waiver of a breach constitute a waiver of any subsequent breach.

We aren't a real company so can we truly respect the intellectual property rights of others? It is Our policy to respond to any claim that Content posted on the Service infringes a copyright or other intellectual property infringement of any person. If You are a copyright owner, or authorized on behalf of one, and You believe that the copyrighted work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement that is taking place through the Service, You must submit Your notice in writing to the attention of our copyright agent via email (realemail@eeveeexpo.com) and include in Your notice a detailed description of the alleged infringement. "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" Disclaimer
I just threw in that Latin text to see if anyone actually reads these things. The Service is provided to You "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" and with all faults and defects without warranty of any kind. Without limitation to the foregoing, the Company provides no warranty or undertaking, and makes no representation of any kind that the Service will meet Your requirements, achieve any intended results, be compatible or work with any other software, applications, systems or services, operate without interruption, meet any performance or reliability standards or be error free or that any errors or defects can or will be corrected.
Without limiting the foregoing, neither the Company nor any of the company's provider makes any representation or warranty of any kind, express or implied: (i) as to the operation or availability of the Service, or the information, content, and materials or products included thereon; (ii) that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free; (iii) as to the accuracy, reliability, or currency of any information or content provided through the Service; or (iv) that the Service, its servers, the content, or e-mails sent from or on behalf of the Company are free of viruses, scripts, trojan horses, worms, malware, timebombs or other harmful components.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain types of warranties or limitations on applicable statutory rights of a consumer, so some or all of the above exclusions and limitations may not apply to You. But in such a case the exclusions and limitations set forth in this section shall be applied to the greatest extent enforceable under applicable law.
Governing Law
The laws of the Country, excluding its conflicts of law rules, shall govern this Terms and Your use of the Service. Your use of the Application may also be subject to other local, state, national, or international laws.
Disputes Resolution
Changes to These Terms and Conditions
We reserve the right, at Our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material We will make reasonable efforts to provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at Our sole discretion.
By continuing to access or use Our Service after those revisions become effective, You agree to be bound by the revised terms. If You do not agree to the new terms, in whole or in part, please stop using the website and the Service.
