Released Pokemon Bioterror (v1.2 released 05/18/2025)

This project has a release available. The full version is still a work in progress.
Project Status
Released
Project Version
1.2.2
Hi folks!
Thanks for checking out this project. Pokémon BioTerror is a solo-developed fangame, heavily inspired by Reborn and Rejuvenation. It's built using Pokémon Essentials v21.1 and mkxp-z.
I hope you enjoy the experience!

O wandering soul.
Deep in the endless darkness, thy lament has reached my ears.
I, the God of the Mirror, shall grant thee a new chance.
Thou will be given new eyes to see, new ears to hear, and a new body to once again bathe in the light.
...

[Plot]

You wake up in a basement, in an unfamiliar world, and in a body that isn't originally yours.
You don't remember anything, not even why you were brought here.
Before you know it, you're caught up in a conflict with Team Sodius, a terrorist organization in Chemia region, and barely manage to escape.
But that’s just the beginning.

This world is in danger, though no one has noticed yet.
The ecosystem is slowly disrupted, reality is starting to distort, and chaos is quietly building.
So, dear stranger,
Would you give everything to protect a world you have no connections with?

...
Your answer won't change anything.
Your actions will.

[Description]
Welcome to the Chemia region, a land rich in nature and biodiversity.
Here, you'll encounter not only familiar Pokémon from other regions, but also brand-new species exclusive to Chemia.

Introducing your starter choices:
The starters: Nivarmad, Deerox, and Candror; and the secondary starters: Turtwig, Tepig, and Totodile, each with their own unique regional evolutions.

Plus, a fan-favorite gimmick makes a comeback, now with more custom forms to explore.

Hello folks. Pokemon BioTerror patch v1.1.3 is now available. The download link has been updated in the original post. This patch is optional. However, if you see some texts linger too long during battle, you may want to apply this patch.

Changelog:
  • Fix: Some texts stay too long during battles

I'm sorry if this pops up more than once I don't know how to use this site but do you have charcadet in the game?

Hello there. Fyi, charcadet is not available in the current version yet, but will be included in future releases.

Hi folks!
I'm excited to introduce the release of Pokémon BioTerror v1.2.0 - a major update packed with new content and improvements! Download link is available in the main post.

SiGJ4dWT_o.png

What to expect in v1.2.0:
  • No main story progression this time, but several important side quests have been added — including an optional Gym Battle! These offer around 3 additional hours of gameplay and will influence the direction of the main story in future updates.
  • Major Quality-of-Life Improvements:
Playthrough Settings to customize your gameplay experience.
More detailed data and new apps in the Pokédex and Pokégear.
An Encounter Rate Modifier and other tweaks to control how often you encounter specific types of Pokémon.
  • Revamped Quest System: Sidequests are now more flexible and no longer tied exclusively to Professor Bismuth's quests.
  • New Custom Weather Effect - Soul Fog: Add variety and depth to your battle strategies.
  • Discover 10 new original Pokémon species, regional variants, convergent forms, and 2 new Mega Evolutions.

Detail changelog:
  • Introduce Playthrough Settings, move Difficulty mode to Playthrough Settings
  • Remove certain trainer's Smeargle's Minimize
  • Adjust difficulty of some key battles (especially Story mode)
  • Change tilesets of some previous maps
  • Add Movedex and Abilitydex to Pokedex
  • Add Weather & Terrain app and Move Tutor app to Pokegear
  • Change all backsprites size to x2
  • Setting to adjust encounter chance
  • Add item to make rarer Pokemon easier to encounter
  • Change: Rockruff evolves to Dusk Form in the evening
  • Change: Pokemon evolving via Trading while holding item can now evolve by using Linking Cord while holding item
  • Add 10 new Pokemon species and regional forms
  • Add 2 new Mega evolutions
  • Fix (hopefully): secondary starters evolve into normal form instead of regional after a battle
  • Add Pokemon League trading system
  • Add Item trading system (functionally like crafting system)
  • Properly add overlay for overworld investigation
  • New content for Dolomite Jungle, Alumi Village, Magne Forest, Charcoal Hill and Silent Path
  • Add new in battle weather: Soul Fog

Hello folks! I'm here to share the details for patch v1.2.1 of BioTerror. This is an optional update, but if you haven’t completed the Charcoal Mansion sidequest yet, I highly recommend applying this patch, as it addresses a potential hardlock bug that could affect your progress.

Download links have been updated in the main post.

Hi, Game looks really interesting but just want to check before I play, are the listed features the current state state the game is in? or are they the final aspirational goals? Mainly asking as I prefer to play a game all in once its story completed (not necessarily fully polished).

Hello, and thank you for checking out Bioterror.

As mentioned in the "Download & Discord" section, the current version of the game includes 3 out of 18 planned gyms, along with 1 optional gym, offering approximately 12 hours of gameplay. All other features listed in the "Features" section are available in this release.

While the game may not fully meet your criteria at this stage, I hope you'll consider giving it a try once it's completed.

Thanks for the reply,

seems I missed that bit, and apologies for my wording if it was seen as being critical of the game for not being finished yet as that was not my intent. Instead its from previous in progress hacks/fangames where I lose the file or saves become incompatible over time and the prospect of potentially playing tens of hours of content ive already played to see the new stuff or finish the game causes me to just not bothering most cases or even when I do it ruins the overall flow and the fun of the overall game, so for seeing each game at its best and getting the most enjoyment I as mentioned, usually just wait until they are done. Even though I also concede that this isnt particularly useful for yourself who would likely prefer the testers or feedback along the process. Though I do promise I will be regularly checking in on the progress and will be playing it as soon as its story is done.

Hey,

Is there anyway to open the cheat menu with joiplay? It crashes when I try it and also what is the update cycles of the game? As far as I know it's not completed are there any sites where u can get fast news about this game?

Hello there. Unfortunately, the cheat menu on Joiplay isn’t supported.
