THE HISUI REGION
Welcome to the Hisui region, a harsh and cold land full of challenges and mysteries.

THE DIAMOND CLAN
The Diamond Clan is a group of people that together worship Almighty Sinnoh, the creator of time.
As a part of the clan you're tasked with an important mission, taking a Pokémon to the coldness of Alabaster Icelands.

FEATURES
This is a very short but experimental project to me, I've decided to keep it simple but I wasn't afraid to experiment with changing the core Pokémon Essentials scripts sometimes.

This project features:
  • A new story full of cool characters and moments;
  • A survival experience with a crafting system and loot drops from Pokémon;
  • Mysterious locations with puzzles to solve;
  • A Basculegion ride with a mighty roar;
  • Challenging battles against strong Pokémon Wielders;
  • A small but very interesting Dex;
  • An Action-Based section that will make you sweat (I hope so).

WHY PLAY GLACIAL CHRONICLES?
Well, as mentioned above it's a project made for fun to experiment with ideas and mechanics while not going too far from the traditional Pokémon experience. I believe that if you're looking for a fresh take on a Pokémon Fangame, this might be the perfect choice to spend an hour on.

WHERE CAN I PLAY? *
You can play it by clicking on the link below:

*IMPORTANT: This is an unfinished game jam project. Yes, the story is complete, but the game might still present some bugs or glitches, for this reason it is very important that you save often.

@RiqueRique, Hi.

This is a nice little fangame so far. I just completed the events with Phione around the Sunnyshore Sea. And there are a couple things I want to mention.

For starters, traversing Sunnyshore Sea during its initial state was... it was hard. Not only is the encounter rate through the roof, with no means of mitigating them (Repels can't be found or made; only regular Potions and Pokeballs seem to be available). It was also difficult to traverse because the ongoing rainstorm mixed with the bombarding lightning effects made it a genuine visual pain and exhaustion. It's to the point where I'd suggest removing the lightning effect altogether, especially if it can't be turned down.

Second, once that's been cleared up and the player is allowed to explore the Sunnyshore Sea, the transition to and from the Firespit Island section is riddled with soft-locks. For one thing, if you get too close to the border transition while there's an obstacle (a shoal barrier, usually) in front of the direction the player-character is automatically moved towards, then the game will soft-lock on a black screen while you hear the collision sound-effect indefinitely until you reset. This can happen when leaving back to the Sunnyshore Sea area, too.

But most insidious is that when you leave back to the Sunnyshore Sea area from the Firespit Island area, the whirlpools that were explicitly there because of previous story events that were gone and should still be gone inexplicable return. And the player-character is spawned right on top of one them, preventing away from them from moving.

EDIT: Having chosen to revisit an old area instead, returning to the Firespit Island transition shows the whirlpools have spawned again, making the area inaccessible.

EDIT 3: So it seems the whirlpools return whenever the Sunnyshore Sea area is entered from any direction except from the Ginkgo Landing area. Entering from there is the only way to cause to whirlpools border the northwest and southeast areas to disappear. Oh, yeah. The path leading to the next part of the story, the Alabaster Icelands, will also have its whirlpools return if the Sunnyshore Sea area is entered from a direction that's not the Ginkgo Landing area.

On another note:
Is the Hisuian Sligoo intended to not be changed like most of the other Pokemon that can be caught in this game have been? That is to ask, is it supposed to have the canon Sligoo movepool and Level-up method, essentially meaning that Goodra isn't intended to be player-accessible in this game?

EDIT 2: Also, its move Shelter is supposed to increase Defense by 2 stages and Special Defense by 1. It seems to bve bugged here, and only increase Defense by 2 stages, not affecting Special Defense at all.

Thanks for your time. Hopefully you'll be able to see this and be able to respond as soon as you can.

Hey, thanks for playing and providing your feedback and bug reports, I didn't know about many of those bugs since not a lot of people ended up exploring the island (But I'm glad you did!), I don't know if I'll be able to fix any of those at the moment though as I'm a little busy with other project and IRL business haha, but I do have plans for Glacial Chronicles so I'll definitely be going back to fix these.
As for the cave Pokémon you can find in the cave, it was kinda of a last minute addition, and again, not many people ended up knowing about this part of the game, I think the gen 2 pack I used simply didn't have the proper moveset for it, so it's something I'll have to change myself as well.

Anyway, I'm glad you played the game and enjoyed what you played so far, I'm sorry I can't fix those issues right now so you can't really appreciate 100% of the game as intended, but I hope you can understand it and comeback when I start working on this project again soon

To start, thanks for the reply!

I actually just finished the current game as is last night. (That last bit was... It was something. :D )

I guess the reason most didn't notice was because most players didn't think to try backtracking once they got Basculegion to the accessible place in the Golden Lowlands (North) area. It's the only previously explored location that had water that can be reached from this side of the Solaceon Ruins. It isn't far, either. But if the idea of backtracking isn't on the mind, I can guess why many might not have even considered the possibility. Same goes for the areas that open up in the Sunnyshore Sea, beyond the nearby path that leads to the Alabaster Icelands area. (I wonder how many others noticed the Dive Spot that becomes visible, even if it can't be accessed yet?)

And that's fine, about likely not being able to get to fixing the bugs and oversights right now. I very much ended the game enjoying what I got to play. So thank you for that experience. :)

I guess a tad more item crafting variety would have been nice, but that's about it. Maybe a slightly higher Trainer count, though I can see the wisdom in keeping that low in the context of this game.

Thanks again for the reply, and for the cool game to play! :D
