Did you download all updates for the game? I just tested with a new save file and it works for me, this issue that you are relating used to be a bug on older versions but it got fixed already

do you have the item in your bag? it's called Cut Guide, it shouldn't be being held by a pokémon, just leave it in your bag and interact with the cut trees, if that's not working please tell me so I can fix it :)

Hello, I'm sorry I messed up the internal name of the cut item, new update is out and fixes it :)

Ur not supposed to make a pokemon hold it, just have it in ur bag and you will be fine

Hi, I don't actually know what you can do to play this on Mac rn, but apparently there is something called PlayOnMac that can help you, not sure about that tbh but I would recommend you to check that :)
